I am Alyssa, a music student.

During a recent stay in Italy I was reminded how strong of a workaholic atmosphere I live and study in as a musician. Music is my education, my job, and my hobby. I love it, but at the end of the day I want to enjoy something completely unrelated – to leave my workaholic brain and lap up life’s simple pleasures.

I started this blog hoping it would encourage me to indulge in those sweet little things in life – the dolcetti di vita – and it has. The sweet little things I’ve enjoyed most are literally sweet little things: baked goods, sweets, and other desserts. As such the blog is dedicated primarily to food, and so far it has definitely helped me cultivate my baking interests.

I’ve recently added a category entitled “Life,” which might be more appropriately titled, “Other sweet things in life that aren’t food.” There I plan to share other random indulgences, probably when I don’t have time to bake – including music, nature, fashion, images, people, or whatever I stumble upon. I’d love to reach a point where my baking can be inspired by these “Life” posts (flavor, texture, appearance, etc.).

I look to try new recipes, experiment with old ones, and hopefully learn from a blogging community. I would appreciate baking suggestions and helpful comments!
